Day 2 /Exhibit Opening & Community PAUSE: Celebrating Words with Barcroft Residents
Join us to enjoy the creative ways in which the residents of Barcroft Apartments tell their stories of “Me, Here,” through Exhibit 3 and Exhibit 4 of Sushmita Mazumdar’s Arlington Arts grant project Curating 4 Community Art Exhibits.
Listen to the contributors’ poetry and write your own. Then learn how to use brush and ink to write a Japanese word inspired by a work of art in the exhibit, and take your creations home with you.

Listen to the contributors share and perform. In the exhibit, we find sky, trees, grass, stars, clouds, flowers, and leaves—all things that tell the stories of “Here.” Then learn how to make an artwork inspired by our young residents and take your own “Me, Here” home with you.

Columbia Pike Documentary Project Walking Tour with Lloyd Wolf
Join Lloyd Wolf, director of the Columbia Pike Documentary Project, for a walking tour of the Pike. First we’ll look at the CPDP exhibit on view “Me, Here: Stories of Barcroft Apartments as told by the Columbia Pike Documentary Project” then walk the Pike with the team, listen to stories, and see the books.

Community PAUSE: Celebrating “The Holidays” and a Happy New Year!
As we end the year wishing people a “Happy Holidays” we wanted to hear how they celebrated “the Holidays” after all. Join us in our January 2024 Community PAUSE: Celebrating “The Holidays” & a Happy New Year to hear from the community members how they celebrated “the holidays” in so many different ways.
Then watch Studio PAUSE artists do an expressive calligraphy demonstration where they write wishes for a Happy New Year in various scripts, languages, and styles of expression!
Free. Light refreshments will be served.
